A Secondhand Home
Sourcing props for “the world’s last live-action film”, a production designer finds a teenager living in secret in a secondhand furniture warehouse.
While sourcing props for “the world’s last live-action film,” a production designer enters a secondhand furniture warehouse late at night and discovers a teenager secretly living there. A fantastical chase through a world of oversized furniture brings them together, helping each find a way forward.
Where do the things we discard end up? A boy abandoned by his family and a filmmaker whose work is no longer needed build a home together from discarded furniture.
The look
The film shifts between painterly, semi-realistic CG and exaggerated, cartoon-style 3D animation. Old mattresses become hills, pillow feathers become parachutes, and a kitchen sink becomes a waterslide.
